It's the year of the ageing athlete! This has always been close to my heart, because so many of the athletes I've worked with, like the Waughs, McGrath, Nathan Smith and big Gladiator J Vulcan, have defied the ageng gene and been World beaters well into their late 30's.

Well this month the oldies have been at it again, the "greatest" of all won his 11th Surfing World title; Matt Hayden at age 40 marks his return to cricket this month, back to his "fighting" weight and in great shape which I feature; and the great Shane Warne is back another "fit" 40 year old.

PLUS there’s loads on swimming, triathlon, nutrition, sports psychology and, of course, cricket.

I love the summer. Bring on the sunshine and bring on the specials with the great Brett Lee on the Channel 9 Cricket Show.

From all of us at the Jock Athletic Ezine, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a safe, prosperous and healthy New Year.

Enjoy!

Jock
